“Cuba’s first true five-star luxury hotel”, one of the most ambitious projects. The existing building “Manzana de Gomez” was the first European-style department store and silent-film theater. Now, completely reimagined as a 246-room hotel, the landmark shines with a soothing gray-and-white color palette punctuated by generous splashes of tropical pinks, purples, and blues. Three bars, three restaurants, a top-floor gym, a rooftop pool, and a 10,000-square-foot spa ensure an urban-chic experience.
The design concept embodies the eclectic character of Havana, mixing contemporary designs with local pieces to give the feeling of the modern Havana. Each space has its own concept but as you walk through the property you can feel as if you are wandering in the city.
This project was done while working at Restaura Company in Havana, Cuba. As part of the team, I was in charge of design development and construction documents of the standard rooms, San Cristobal, and Confluencias restaurants.
