Cataleya is a gastro bar located in Caceres, Spain. The existing conditions were not ideal for the new use proposed, so the new design was mainly focused on the optimization of the space using modular furniture pieces that could allow the re-arrangement of the saloon based on its different uses.
Different types of furniture groups helped to create a cozy home-like environment. The bar is the functional center of the space, it’s highlighted by the mesh ceiling structure and the adjacent columns, creating a landmark inside the space.
Illumination is generated by warm Edison-like bulbs that produce a calm atmosphere in the environment. This relaxed concept is contrasted with the coldness of stainless steel and the industrial look of metal mesh in the furniture and ceilings. Supplementary LED illumination helps to create different atmospheres thanks to the change of light color and temperature.
The project included the design of all the furniture pieces. The production was done by local producers. This project was developed in collaboration with Alejandro Rosales
